Tim is a colourist. His feelings about a place, the atmosphere is something that he tries to capture in every piece. Figures became a distraction from the emotion, heat and atmosphere. This can only be caught 'En Plein Air', by sitting and looking and relooking.
Tim's passion for buildings comes from his fascination with the concept of 3D. Partially sighted from birth, he only sees in 2D, like a movie screen. This lack of depth perception made translating and recording objects and spaces complicated; he had to rely on changes in hue, shadows and texture to understand how far an object is from him. It also led to his obsession with edges, corners, gaps, alcoves and especially rooflines. The moment when an object disappears and is no longer real.
